Colleges: Osborne to stay until 2010 as Nebraska AD

Associated Press

LINCOLN, Neb. — Tom Osborne won't be leaving Nebraska anytime soon.

The Cornhuskers' former coach will stay on as Nebraska's athletic director for the next 2 1/2 years, dropping the interim tag he had since returning two months ago to replace the fired Steve Pederson.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman said today the 70-year-old Osborne will be the school's AD until June 30, 2010.

Osborne, who led the Cornhuskers to three national championships and won 255 games from 1973-97, fired coach Bill Callahan at the end of a 5-7 season that saw the once-proud Huskers allow 40 or more points in six games. He also hired Bo Pelini to replace Callahan and helped out in recruiting.
