Colleges: Osborne to stay until 2010 as Nebraska AD
Associated Press
LINCOLN, Neb. Tom Osborne won't be leaving Nebraska anytime soon. The Cornhuskers' former coach will stay on as Nebraska's athletic director for the next 2 1/2 years, dropping the interim tag he had since returning two months ago to replace the fired Steve Pederson.
Chancellor Harvey Perlman said today the 70-year-old Osborne will be the school's AD until June 30, 2010.
Osborne, who led the Cornhuskers to three national championships and won 255 games from 1973-97, fired coach Bill Callahan at the end of a 5-7 season that saw the once-proud Huskers allow 40 or more points in six games. He also hired Bo Pelini to replace Callahan and helped out in recruiting.
