Advertiser Staff

A 9-year-old boy hit by a truck near Pahoa and Kilauea avenues was treated for injuries at The Queen's Medical Center and released, according to Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city's emergency services department.

A 74-year-old man driving a pickup truck blacked out behind the wheel and struck a telephone pole and the boy, who was standing on a sidewalk. The accident occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m.

After being struck, the boy flew 10 feet into nearby bushes.

Both the boy and the 74-year-old man were taken to Queen's.
