Breezy winds, some showers in weather forecast today

The breezy trade winds are expected to continue today but decrease slightly tonight and Friday as the ridge north of the state weakens, according to the National Weather Service.

An upper level trough across the islands will enhance trade wind showers mainly in windward and mauka areas into the weekend, forecasters said.

Some of these trade wind showers may blow over into the leeward areas of the smaller islands today.

Here's a closer look at the forecast for the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 77. East wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
