Big Island man accused of abusing woman for 5 days

Big Island police today charged a Kona man with physically and sexually abusing a woman Dec. 12-16 in Holualoa.

Sanford Kinimaka Granito, 39, was charged with two counts of abuse of a household member, one count of second-degree sexual assault, and one count of second-degree terroristic threatening.

The woman told police that during the five-day period, she was sexually assaulted, choked and threatened.

Granito's bail was set at $5,250. He has six prior convictions, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records.
