Coast Guard airlifts stricken Big Island man to Oahu

HONOLULU — A Coast Guard rescue crew from Air Station Barbers Point medically evacuated a critically ill patient from Hilo Medical Center to Oahu Thursday.

The Coast Guard received a call at 12:30 p.m. concerning a 40-year-old man who was in critical condition and needed to be transported to The Queens Medical Center.

The Coast Guard aircrew landed at Air Station Barbers Point at 8:30 p.m. and transferred the patient to emergency medical technicians; the man was then transported to The Queens Medical Center.
