UH men's volleyball ranked No. 11

The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team is ranked No. 11 in the CSTV/AVCA Coaches Top 15 Poll, released today.

Brigham Young, who went 23-5 a year ago, is the preseason No. 1 team. The Cougars are followed by Pepperdine, UCLA, Penn State and UC Irvine to round out the Top 5. Ranked sixth is IPFW followed by Cal State Northridge. Ohio State and USC are tied for eighth and Long Beach State is 10th.

The Warriors, who finished the 2007 ranked No. 10, ended last season with a 13-14 overall mark while going 11-11 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, tied for sixth in the standings.

UH opens the 2008 season Jan. 3-5 hosting the 14th Outrigger Hotels Invitational. The field includes volleyball powers UCLA, Penn State and Ball State.
