NEW YEAR'S EVE: DEC. 31

"Get Down Tonight" and ring in 2008 with the fun lovin' KC, left, and the Sunshine Band. Come dressed in your best psychedelic '70s gear so you can "Shake Your Booty" and burn rubber on two large dance floors. The band burst onto the music scene some 30 years ago with funky beats fused with Latin percussion groove and has sold more than 100 million records, nine Grammy nominations, three Grammy awards and an American Music Award. The Johnny Valentine Band opens the show and ticket prices include one standard cocktail and half-bottle of sparkling wine.

Aloha Tower Marketplace hosts a fireworks display over Honolulu Harbor at midnight New Year's Eve, ushering in 2008 in that always explosive way. The Eve celebration also features center-stage festivities beginning at 7 p.m. with entertainment, giveaways, face painting, balloon animals and more. Several Marketplace restaurants will offer special menus and packages for the evening.

Bacharach's work for film will be featured with music from film scores such as "Casino Royale," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," and "Arthur" plus many more.

Learn about the story of Pele, Kamapua'a and the famous love triangle among Pele, her sisters Hi'iaka, Kaua'i and chief Lohiau in "Pele Ma." Adapted by John Wat, Laurel Nakanishi, and Kennley Asato, "Pele Ma" is a narrative theatre adaptation based on the book "Pele Ma: Legends of Pele from Kauai'i" (Bamboo Ridge Press, 2001) by Frederick Wichman. It was was originally performed at Mid-Pacific School of the Arts and toured as part of the American High School Theatre Festival to the annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.

The Shanghai Circus soars through Hawai'i with a four-island tour. The ensemble will showcase coordination and formation, bend their bodies in every way possible and seemingly impossible, and glide through the air with ease. The eye-catching show is packed with lavish costumes and music for the entire family. The company has toured Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Turkey, Indonesia and more. Circus members last performed at Hawai'i Theatre in early January.
