NBA: Clippers' Thomas, Spurs' Ginobili suffer sprains

Associated Press

SAN ANTONIO — Clippers forward Tim Thomas and Spurs guard Manu Ginobili were injured during the first quarter of their game tonight.

Thomas fell to the ground and was in obvious pain after appearing to get tripped up by another Los Angeles player. He was helped off the floor with 6:38 to play in the first and the team said he had a sprained left knee.

Thomas was averaging 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds heading into the game against San Antonio. He missed the Clippers' Dec. 16 game against the Los Angeles Lakers with a sprained right ankle.

With about 4½ minutes to go in the first, Ginobili grabbed his left hand and left the court. The team said he sprained his left index finger. It's the same injury Ginobili had Dec. 2 against Portland. Ginobili is averaging 20 points for San Antonio.

The Spurs beat the Clippers 99-90.
