Haleakala's Halemauu trailhead opens after 4 months

Road construction on Summit Highway has been completed, opening the Halemau'u Trailhead for hikers at Haleakala National Park on Maui.Road crews stabilized the roadbed near the Halemau'u parking lot, which was closed to accommodate a construction staging area during the four month-long project.
