Trade winds picking up speed across Hawaii

Today's National Weather Service forecast calls for trade winds to continue to increase today as an area of high pressure passes north of the islands.The increased trade winds will continue to strengthen over the next few days, making for a breezy Christmas holiday.
Showers will continue to affect mainly windward and mauka sections of the state.
Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Monday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
