Maui CC housing nearing completion

Advertiser Staff

Maui Community College is offering a reduced rate on its new private student housing facility, Kulanaa'o, the school has announced.

Eligible students will able to rent a bed in the four-bedroom apartments for $335 per month during the spring 2008 semester.

This rate, a combination of a price reduction and the receipt of a $500 Maui CC Kulanaa'o scholarship, provides current and prospective students who are struggling with Maui's high cost of living a more affordable option, the school said.

Each fully furnished apartment accommodates four occupants and features two bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen and spacious living room. The price includes utilities, basic cable, high-speed Internet and telephone (local calls and continental U.S.). The facility also features a study lounge, recreational areas and laundry facilities, as well as Resident Advisers and Student Life Coordinators.

Thirty two Maui CC students have now completed their first semester in the residence, located across the street from Maui CC's campus on the corner of Lono and Vevau Streets. Kulanaa'o was only partially open at the start of school in the fall, however it will soon be able to house up to 400 students.

Prospective and current students should contact Sharlene Starmer or Nazha Sagum at 808-856-2900 to schedule a tour and to obtain an application.

Models are open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
