High-surf advisory issued for east-facing shores

A high-surf-advisory is in effect for all east-facing shores on Oahu this morning, with waves expected to rise 8 to 10 ft. today, according to the National Weather Service.

Surf along north-facing shores will lower to 4 to 6 ft. this morning, then rise to 6 to 10 ft. by late in the day.

Surf along west-facing shores will lower to 2 to 4 ft. this morning, then rise to 4 to 6 ft. by late in the day.

Surf along south-facing shores will be 1 to 3 ft. through today.

Strengthening trade winds will keep surf above advisory levels along east-facing shores through the rest of the week. The new northwest swell will peak near advisory levels Tuesday night, then slowly lower through Thursday. Another northwest swell is expected to arrive Thursday night, peak late Friday, then slowly lower through Sunday.
