Clint Schroeder has been promoted to the position of advertising director for The Honolulu Advertiser.

Schroeder, who was the newspaper's retail advertising director, assumes oversight of all advertising, marketing and commercial printing operations.

He joined The Advertiser in April 2006 after serving as vice president of advertising for the NorthWest News Group of Greater Chicago, a subsidiary of Shaw Newspapers. Before joining Shaw in 2002, he spent four years working in advertising management for Lehman Communications Inc. in Loveland and Longmont, Colo; he also worked for the McCracken Newspaper chain in Wyoming.

He has served as the executive director for Mountain Ad Managers of Denver, Colo., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable training opportunities to small and mid-sized daily and weekly newspapers in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Nebraska. And in 2005, Schroeder was named to the Newspaper Association of America's Presstime magazine's "Top 20 Under 40."

He has held various positions on state press association boards and committees in Wyoming, Colorado and Illinois, and was on the strategic foundation committee for www.ChicagoJobs.com, the first newspaper consortium recruitment Internet site in the United States.

Schroeder's community involvement has included various positions and assistance to Rotary International, Lions Club, numerous chambers of commerce, Relay for Life and United Way.

He is a graduate of the University of Wyoming with a B.A. in political science, and is currently pursuing an executive MBA from Cardean University in Chicago.

Taking over for Schroeder as retail advertising director is Sandra Gima, who has been promoted from her position as retail advertising manager.

In her previous position, Gima was responsible for day-to-day management of retail sales associates, for developing client relations and revenue streams, and for facilitating special projects and niche publications. She worked in broadcast prior to becoming part of The Advertiser's sales team in May 2004, serving as local sales manager for News 8/K5 The Home Team.
