High-wind advisory issued for Maui, Big Island

A wind advisory is in effect until Thursday morning for Maui, Kaho'olawe and the lower elevations of the Big Island.High pressure north of the state is expected to produce strong and gusty trade winds up to 50 mph over those areas today and tonight, according to the National Weather Service. Winds may break tree branches and cause spotty power outages. Drivers are advised to use extra caution.
