Rough seas cancel Superferry trips to Maui for second day

Advertiser Staff

Hawaii Superferry's sailing between O'ahu and Maui has been halted for a second day because of rough ocean conditions.

Passengers for today's trips were notified yesterday, company spokeswoman Lori Abe said.

Passengers were contacted by telephone, e-mail and text messages and were given the option of rebooking or getting a refund, Abe said. Airline reservations were made for the few passengers who needed to get to their intended island.

The status for tomorrow's voyages will be posted by 2 p.m. today at www.HawaiiSuperferry.com. Passengers will also be notified when voyages are canceled, Abe said.

The Superferry resumed service to Maui Dec. 13 after the Legislature passed a bill allowing the ferry to resume operations while an environment review is conducted.
