Overnight crash in Waianae leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

An early-morning crash on Pa'akea Road in Lualualei left one person dead and another in serious condition.The accident happened at around 1:45 a.m. near the Lualualei Naval Station. A 21-year-old female passenger was pinned in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:12 a.m., EMS officials said.
The 23-year-old female driver was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.
The accident took down one utility pole, knocking out electricity to about 1,500 customers in the area. Power was fully restored at 6:43 a.m., HECO said.
