Academy plans a Fellini-esque soiree

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Academy of Arts Starlight Ball, set from 7 to 11 p.m. Jan. 12, has the theme Circo di Notti. It's conceived as a soiree with European pleasures — Italian circus meeting decadent Berlin cabaret in the Island environs of the art academy.

The event — sponsored by Prada — will assemble roaming artists in a Fellini-esque atmosphere. The academy's courtyards will be bustling with variety — performances by aerialists and acrobats of Samadhi, The Amazing TJ (a juggler), unicyclist Ari the Wise and bandleader Kevin Hughs.

Food will be provided by such restaurants as Cassis by Chef Mavro, 12th Ave Grill and Michel's.

Circo di Notte also boasts an auction with Prada products, with other items donated by Honolulu artists Dana Forsberg, Sergio Goes and Richard Earl Leong Yu Ralya.

Proceeds support the Academy's Art To Go Program, a non-profit outreach effort targeting Hawai'i's at-risk youth.

Tickets: $85.
