Surf of 8 to 12 feet expected along east shores today

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for all east-facing shores on O'ahu.

Surf along the eastern shoreline is expected to reach 8 to 12 feet today, forecasters said. Strong trade winds are expected to maintain the large, rough surf above the advisory level through the weekend. The east shore surf will gradually decline with the start of the new week.

Elsewhere today, look for surf of 7 to 10 feet along north-facing shores, 4 to 7 feet along west-facing shores and 1 to 3 feet along south-facing shores.

A large northwest swell may arrive Tuesday and Wednesday.
