Superferry cancels Saturday trips; Sunday delayed

Advertiser Staff

The Hawaii Superferry has canceled its Saturday trips due to high seas. It's the fourth day in a row that the interisland service has been halted by stormy conditions.

The company plans to operate on Sunday but on a delayed basis. The high-speed catamaran is scheduled to leave Honolulu at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, instead of the normal 6:30 a.m. departure.

The company said it will notify passengers scheduled to go on Saturday and Sunday of the changes.

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience," the company said in an announcement on its Web site.

Approximately 160 passengers were booked for yesterday's sailings and 480 had reservations for today, according to Terry O'Halloran, director of business development for Hawaii Superferry.

Wednesday's cancellation affected a total of 450 passengers.
