Fallen tree on Pali Highway slowing drive into town

A large tree or tree limb has fallen onto the Honolulu-bound lanes of the Pali Highway.

Town-bound traffic is being diverted from the highway onto the Nu'uanu Pali Drive at the upper and and then back onto the highway at the lower end of Nu'uanu Pali Drive.

Police could not immediately say how soon the Honolulu-bound lanes will be reopened.

Several tow trucks have been called to the scene.

The tree or limb is estimated to be about 30 to 40 feet long police said.

The incident happened about 6:20 a.m. Several vehicles were damaged and one of them was reportedly crushed.

There was no word immediately on possible injuries to those whose vehicles were damaged.
