KAILUA, KONA
County taking over at Old Kona Airport park

Advertiser Staff

The county Department of Parks and Recreation will take control of the management of what is now known as the Old Kona Airport State Park, and will be responsible for maintenance and management of the park, including the rental of the large pavilion, beach park area and picnic pavilions.

The fees for the large pavilion will remain the same as the state parks agency now charges: $125, with a refundable security deposit of $200.

Rental fees of $10 will be required for exclusive use of the smaller beach pavilions, with a refundable security deposit of $50.

Reservations are only confirmed on receipt of payment, and are on a first-come first-served basis up to one year in advance.

Reservations will be handled by Julie in the county parks department's Kona permit office near the Kona Community Aquatic Center. For more information, call 327-3560.
