Volunteers needed for Maui County panels

Applications are being accepted for volunteers to serve on a variety of Maui County boards and commissions.

Members of these boards and commissions may hear public testimony, review policies and standards, and make recommendations.

Among the total of 58 vacancies that will be available as of March 31 are positions on the Maui, Lana'i and Moloka'i planning commissions, the Board of Ethics, the Board of Variances and Appeals, the Board of Water Supply, the Civil Service Commission, the Commission on Naming Streets, Parks, and Facilities, the Cost of Government Commission, the Real Property Tax Review Board, the Arborist Committee, the Traffic Safety Council and the Council on Aging.

Jan. 11 is the deadline to apply. Applications may be downloaded from the county Web site at www.mauicounty.gov (click on "Boards and Commissions") and also are available at Council Services offices in Hana, and on Lana'i and Moloka'i, and at the information booth in the lobby of the Kalana O Maui building in Wailuku.
