  • Kahumana Community Center has been given a grant of $10,000 by First Hawaiian Bank Foundation. The money will be used to purchase new furnishings for its residential facilities. The center is dedicated to educational, cultural and socioeconomic renewal through community building.

  • The Queen's Medical Center recently received a grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The grant will fund an educational program developed by the medical center and Stevenson Middle School to foster interest in science and healthcare among Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students. The goal of the grant is to address the under-representation of Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders in healthcare professions by providing students in-depth science education during the critical middle school years.
