Man arrested at Honolulu airport after guns found

Associated Press

Authorities arrested an Ohio man at Honolulu International Airport after two loaded guns were found in his check-in luggage.

An airport sheriff deputy arrested 28-year-old Christopher L. Hollie on Friday night before he was able to board a Northwest Airlines flight to the Mainland.

Transportation Security Administration screeners say they found a .45-caliber handgun and a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol.

Officials say both guns were loaded and concealed in his packed clothes.

Hollie told sheriffs he worked at Tripler Army Medical Center, but he would not say why he was traveling with loaded guns.

He was charged with firearms violations, including failing to register firearms.

Hollie is being held at the Honolulu police cellblock in lieu of $25,000 bail.
