TROY | NOV. 3

ATHENS, Ga. — Tailback Knowshon Moreno scored three touchdowns and eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark as No. 10 Georgia defeated Troy 44-34 in the homecoming game on Saturday at Sanford Stadium.

Moreno rushed for 196 yards, including scoring runs of 80, 1 and 1. For the year, the redshirt freshman now has 1,003 yards.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford finished the game 17 of 29 for 217 yards and two touchdowns. He hit tight end Tripp Chandler for 22 yards and receiver Sean Bailey for 20 yards as Georgia scored twice in the final 45 seconds of the first half.

Kicker Brandon Coutu converted field goals of 36, 46 and 26 yards for the Bulldogs. He also kicked all five extra points.

Moreno bounced back from an earlier fumble that Troy turned into a field goal to go 80 yards and record the longest scoring run for the Bulldogs since Robert Edwards went 80 against Kentucky in 1997.

Moreno's short scoring runs came after a fumble return by defensive end Marcus Howard and a long punt return by Thomas Flowers.

Cornerback Asher Allen paced the Bulldogs with seven tackles and the first interception of his career. Linebacker Marcus Washington added six tackles.

Troy got two scoring passes and 310 yards passing from quarterback Omar Haugabook.
