GEORGIA TECH | NOV. 24

ATLANTA — No. 6 Georgia capped its regular season in fine fashion on Saturday, defeating in-state rival Georgia Tech, 31-17, for its seventh straight win in the series. The Bulldogs ended the regular season at 10-2 and now will wait a week to learn its bowl destination.

"It's kind of hard to take in," said Georgia senior tailback Thomas Brown, who finished with 139 yards rushing and one touchdown. "Growing up in the state of Georgia, I knew about this heated rivalry. It's kind of a big statement to come out today and play the way we played."

Georgia scored in a variety of ways on Saturday as four different players recorded touchdowns. The Bulldogs' first score came on a 31-yard run by quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, who led Georgia with six catches for 74 yards, hauled in a 9-yard touchdown pass from Stafford for the Bulldogs' second score. Fullback Brannan Southerland (4 yards) and Brown (32 yards) added scoring runs for the Bulldogs during their sixth win in a row.

Safety Kelin Johnson and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe led Georgia with eight tackles each for the Bulldogs, while linebacker Rennie Curran recorded six tackles. In addition, safeties C.J. Byrd and Reshad Jones each snagged an interception to anchor Georgia's defensive backfield.
