Four fires likely linked to fireworks

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to four reports of probable fireworks-related fires on Sunday but none today.

Two of yesterday's probable fireworks-related fires were tree fires, the third was a wildland fire and the fourth was a vehicle fire.

Yesterday's wildland fire was in 'Ewa Beach on Iroquois Road and began around 5:20 p.m. The fire burned less than 500 square feet and did not threaten any property.

It was extinguished in less than 20 minutes.

The vehicle fire occurred in the Kahala McDonald's parking lot about 10:25 p.m. It was extinguished within 10 minutes and caused an estimated $1,200 in damage.

The case has been referred to Honolulu police for investigation.
