Traffic unaffected by sewer repair near Ma'ili Point

Advertiser Staff

Crews with the city's Environmental Services Department continue to repair a ruptured sewer main along the makai side of Farrington Highway between Kaukama and Hakimo roads near Ma'ili Point.

No road closures are expected and there is no impact on traffic, said Ken Kawahara, with Environmental Services.

The break, which appears to be in a 20-inch force main, was reported Wednesday at 11 a.m. It does not appear that any wastewater entered the ocean from the rupture.

As a precaution, however, warning signs are posted along the shore and water samples are being taken. The public is advised to heed warning signs.
