Unique Pizza and Subs looks to open Hawai'i outlets

Advertiser Staff

Unique Pizza and Subs Corp., a Pennsylvania-based pizza chain, said it is negotiating to open franchises in Hawai'i as part of its plans to expand its business.

The company didn't disclose a potential franchisee for Hawai'i, but in November had said it was talking with one of its directors, Robert Fidler, about developing locations here, on the West Coast and in Las Vegas. The company said Fidler's background included being one of the original investors in California Pizza Kitchen and involvement in a contracting firm that built more than 500 fast-food restaurants.

Unique Pizza's strategy includes competing with small independent pizza shops by offering high-quality menu items and converting existing pizza restaurants into its franchises.
