State Senate, House to recognize Fallon, wife today

Advertiser Staff

The state Senate will be recognizing Adm. William F. Fallon and his wife Mary at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Fallon, 62, has been nominated to lead the U.S. Central Command and the ground wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He's been the head of the U.S. Pacific Command based out of Camp Smith on O'ahu for nearly two years.

Fallon is expected to deliver remarks to the Senate and will be recognized at noon by the House, according to the office of state Sen. Fred Hemmings, R-25th (Kailua, Waimanalo, Hawai'i Kai).

Fallon would be the first Navy admiral to run the Tampa, Fla.-based U.S. Central Command in its 24-year history.
