High-surf advisory remains for north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

The large and rough surf will continue near or above advisory levels along north and west shores for the next couple of days, the National Weather Service said.

The moderate and rough surf along south-facing shores will slowly lower Thursday. Slightly larger surf is expected this weekend.

Thursday's forecast calls for 12- to 16-foot surf along northern shores, 8- to 12-foot surf along west shores, surf 2 feet to 4 feet along east shores and surf 4 feet to 6 feet along south shores.

Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Expect to encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone.
