High-surf advisory canceled for O'ahu, Maui and Kaua'i

Advertiser Staff

A high-surf advisory was canceled at 9:38 a.m. as wave heights have fallen along north-facing shores across the state, National Weather Service officials said.

Wave faces along north shores of O'ahu, Kaua'i, Maui and Moloka'i dropped below the 15-foot threshold. They are forecast to drop to 8 feet to 12 feet Thursday afternoon.

Similarly, wave faces on west-facing shores for those islands have dropped below the 12-foot advisory threshold as well as the 8-foot advisory level on the Big Island.

But dramatic weather conditions still exist, the weather service said.

A pilot flying along the north shore of Moloka'i spotted a water spout at 9:45 a.m. today and the weather service said conditions remain favorable for additional water spouts.
