HECO reports problems at Kahe power plant

Hawaiian Electric Co. is having trouble with its Kahe power plant, prompting Honolulu Fire Department dispatchers to warn firefighters of increased problems across O'ahu.Police dispatchers warned units of the possibility of "rolling blackouts."
HECO spokeswoman Sharon Higa had few details but said the problem had to do with power "generation."
"It means that we have our reserve margins falling short," she said. HECO engineers have been working on it all day, she said.
It was not clear how much of the problem was related, if at all, to the outages of the past few days.
