High-surf advisory through weekend except for Big Isle

Advertiser Staff

Rising surf on the north- and west-facing shores on all islands except the Big Island has prompted a high-surf advisory through 4 a.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said.

The Big Island may be added to that advisory before the weekend is over, however.

Wave faces on north-facing shores should reach 18 feet tonight and as high as 22 feet tomorrow. Waves on west-facing shores will be 8 feet to 12 feet tonight and 10 feet to 15 feet tomorrow.

Although surf heights are expected to begin dropping tomorrow night, they will not fall below advisory levels until Monday morning.
