NFL says it has no plans to move Pro Bowl in '08 or '09

Associated Press

The NFL said it has no plans of playing the Pro Bowl in another city next year or in 2009 despite a provision in its contract with Hawaii that allows for the league to do so.

"At this point, there's no plans to do that," Michael Humphrey, the NFL's event director at the Pro Bowl, said Friday. "It's not something we're pursuing at this point."

The state's contract with the NFL runs through the 2009 game. If the NFL does decide to play the game in another city in 2008 or 2009, Honolulu will host the game in 2010, according to the contract.

There has been speculation the game could be played in China, which is hosting the NFL's China Bowl next year.

The annual all-star game has been sold out every year since it moved to the 50,000-seat Aloha Stadium in 1980.
