Robbery suspect in custody has 27 prior convictions

Advertiser Staff

A 50-year-old man with 27 prior convictions is under investigation for allegedly trying to rob a businessman of money and later threatening him.

Police arrested the man when he allegedly returned to the 63-year-old victim's business Wednesday to carry out a telephone threat. The suspect earlier had tried to rob the man using a heavy rake as a weapon but fled when customers entered the shop.

The suspect was booked on one count each of first-degree robbery and terroristic threatening. He is also being held on outstanding warrants.
