Drier, cooler air forecast for Islands this weekend

Advertiser Staff

A cold front is over the Big Island now and is expected to move on out to the southeast later Friday afternoon.

The clouds that have been lingering over O'ahu, Maui and the Big Island should diminish today, according to the National Weather Service.

Fine weather is then expected through the weekend and into early next week.

Northerly winds behind the front will bring much drier and cooler air to the Islands this weekend.

Early-morning temperatures will be rather cooler by local standards, forecasters said.

The low at Honolulu International Airport on Friday morning was 65. The record low, back in 1973, was 53.

The mercury is expected to dip into the mid- to high-50s at the airport early Saturday morning.
