Hawai'i state boxing championships Feb. 16

 •  Looks are deceiving in synchronized swimming

The 2007 USA-Boxing Hawai'i State/Regional Championships will be held at Palolo Gym Feb. 16 and 17.

Bouts start at 7 p.m. on both days.

Winners will advance to the U.S. Championships at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., in June.

Quarterfinalists from the U.S. Championships will make the Olympic Trials and box off in August to determine the U.S. Olympic Team for 2008.

Some of the boxers scheduled to compete in Hawai'i are Kawika Tangjian Jr. (119 pounds), Amedeo Ezzo-White Jr. (125), Filipo Toelau (178) and Isaac Arasato (132).

Admission is $10 at the door.

ADULT BASEBALL LEAGUE WILL OPEN FEB. 18

The O'ahu Baseball League is looking for players for its spring season.

There will be four to eight teams in the league, which will use wood bats. The games will begin Feb. 18 and play every Sunday at Central O'ahu Regional Park and Kailua High School.

Cost will be determined by the number of teams.

FOOTBALL CAMP FOR PREP LINEMEN

Registration is now being accepted for the Line of Scrimmage Football Camp for high school linemen.

The camp, which will be from July 10 to 12 at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Ore., is open to linemen that will be entering grades 9 to 12 in the fall.

Tim Bowman, a former Hawai'i resident who is now in his 12th year as an assistant coach at Western Oregon, will direct the camp. There will also be more than 20 college coaches at the camp.

The camp costs $240, which covers housing, all meals, a jersey and a T-shirt. Shoulder pads and helmets can be rented for $35. Registration is limited.
