Big Isle police ask public for help on missing man

Big Island police are renewing their request to the public for help in locating a man who has been missing from Hilo since Nov. 6.

Alvin Western Huffman IV, 39, was last seen Nov. 4 but called in sick to his Hilo workplace on Nov. 6.

Huffman, who has no permanent address, is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-10, 165 pounds, with green eyes and short, brown hair.

His only means of transportation is a blue mountain bike. He wears prescription glasses with thick, black frames and often wears a NASCAR baseball cap.

Police ask anyone who knows his whereabouts to call police Det. Richard Sherlock at (808) 961-2379 or the police department's nonemergency number at (808) 935-3311.
