Beach cleanup now at Makapu'u

The Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawai'i has canceled the cleanup scheduled for Bellows Beach in Waimanalo because of safety concerns but has redirected it to Makapu'u from 3 to 5 p.m. today.

MAUI HIGHWAY LANE TO BE CLOSED

KAHULUI, Maui — Motorists are being advised of intermittent lane closures on Honoapi'ilani Highway at Milepost 8.9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday when a helicopter will drape ring nets over the cliffs above the road as part of a state Department of Transportation rockfall-mitigation project.



WORKSHOP SET ON ENAMELING

A workshop on the art of shippoyaki, Japanese enameling, takes place at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 24.

The workshop will be led by Kazuko Inomata, an award-winning enamel and cloisonné artist. Cost is $20 for JCCH members, $25 for nonmembers. Deadline to register is Feb. 16.
