Wilson pockets $174,000, McLachlin $48,200 in golf

Hawai'i golfers Dean Wilson and Parker McLachlin recorded outstanding final rounds and took home hefty paychecks today in the PGA Tour's FBR Open in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Wilson, a former Kane'ohe resident and Castle High alum, shot a 5-under 66 and finished eighth in a tournament won by Aaron Baddeley.

Wilson earned $174,000. He finished the four-round tournament in 14-under 270. Today's round included six birdies and one bogey on nines of 32-34.

McLachlin, a former Honolulu resident and Punahou alum, shot a 6-under 65 and moved from a tie for 57th place to a tie for 23rd place.

He earned $48,200, finishing at 9-under 275. Today's round included six birdies and no bogeys on nines of 33-32. His 65 was the second-best round of the day next to Vijay Singh's 64.

Singh finished at 15-under 269.
