Moderate quake rattles area near Adak, Alaska

A moderate earthquake shook the area near Adak, Alaska, last night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor, which was assigned a preliminary magnitude of 5.0, occurred at 11:46 p.m. Hawai'i time at a depth of 29.5 miles, the USGS said.

The temblor's epicenter was about 26 miles southeast of Adak.

There have been no reports of injury of damage from the quake.
