Writer Margaret Weis, whose science fiction/fantasy works have sold 22 million copies worldwide and been translated into a dozen languages, will be a guest of the Hawai'i public library system this month.

She will appear at several O'ahu libraries before moving on to the Big Island, and will talk about the science fiction and fantasy writing.

Weis is the co-creator/co-author of the The New York Times list best-sellers "Dragonlance," "Dark Sword" and "Death Gate Cycle," and is author of the "Dragonvarld" trilogy.

Twenty-two years ago, Weis and her partner, game designer Tracy Hickman, broke new ground in the role-playing industry with "Dragonlance" by introducing pre-generated characters, a story line that runs through the game, and adult novels that tie into the game.

She may live in a converted barn in Wisconsin, but Weis spends a lot of time in her fictional Krynn — the world of many of her novels and stories.
