A 20-year-old woman who reportedly lost consciousness this morning while at the summit of the Diamond Head crater hiking trail declined to be transported by rescue workers to a hospital.

Rescue workers responded to the 10:45 a.m. report of an unconscious hiker with a Honolulu Fire Department helicopter, officials said.

The incident marked today's second medical emergency call from the summit.

A 53-year-old woman collapsed there shortly after 10:30 a.m. A Fire Department helicopter picked up the woman at the top of the trail. She was transported to Straub Hospital where she is listed in serious condition, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the Honolulu Emergency Services Department.
