A&B Foundation gives nearly $2M to nonprofits in '06

The Alexander & Baldwin Foundation said it donated nearly $2 million to local and Mainland nonprofit organizations in 2006.The foundation, which is funded by Alexander & Baldwin Inc. and its subsidiaries, said in a news release today that it contributed $1.5 million to local charities last year and $390,000 to Mainland nonprofit organizations.
More than $720,000 of the money went to health and human services organizations while nonprofits that support the culture and arts received $408,000. Educational organization received $322,000, Alexander & Baldwin said.
