Police searching for driver who struck boy in Kapolei

Advertiser Staff

Police need the public's help to find the driver of a sedan that struck and injured a 12-year-old boy Friday morning in Kapolei and then drove away.

The accident occurred at 7:29 a.m. near Lexington Street and Roosevelt Avenue. The boy, a sixth-grader at Barbers Point Elementary School, was sitting on a curb about a quarter-mile east of the school when a vehicle veered toward him and ran over both of his legs, police said.

The vehicle is described by police as a white, compact four-door sedan with special bodywork that may include vents on the side of the sedan, gray bumpers in the front and back, a spoiler on the back, dark tinted windows and "five star" rims or hubcaps.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on your cellular telephone.

The boy was taken Friday to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition, but his current condition is not available.
