Brigham Young University Hawaii President Eric B. Shumway this spring will leave that post to lead a temple in Tonga.

Shumway will be president of a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' temple in Nuku'alofa, Tonga. He will assume the new post after BYU-Hawaii's June commencement.

His replacement has not been made public. Shumway, an expert on Tongan language, served as a Mormon missionary in Tonga from 1959 to 1962.
