Ko'olau on Golf Digest's list of toughest U.S. courses

Advertiser Staff

The Ko'olau Golf Club was named the third toughest on a list of "America's 50 Toughest Golf Courses" in the March 2007 issue of Golf Digest magazine.

The magazine said the toughest course was the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, S.C. No. 2 was the International (the Pines) at Bolton, Mass.

Ko'olau Golf Club in Kane'ohe is a par-72, 7,310-yard course.

"The roughs are tropical rain forests, the hazards mostly uncharted ravines filled with jungle and undiscovered reptilian life forms," the magazine says on its Web site. "You won't need a caddie so much as a backcountry guide."

No other Hawai'i golf course was on the list.
