UH women's hoops No. 145 in RPI ratings

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team is rated No. 145 out of 335 Division I teams in the NCAA Official Women's RPI College Basketball Ratings released today.

Tennessee is No. 1, followed by Duke, Maryland, Ohio State and Purdue.

The men's ratings has not been released for this week.

The Rating Percentage Index (RPI) has been used by the NCAA since 1984 to supplement the selection of at-large teams and the seeding of all teams for the NCAA women's basketball tournament.

It is derived from three component factors: Division I winning percentage (25 percent), schedule strength (50 percent) and opponent's schedule strength (25 percent). Games against non-Division I opponents are not used in calculating the RPI.
