Lihu'e Airport emergency drill shuts part of terminal

Advertiser Staff

An emergency-services exercise will be held at the Lihu'e Airport from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. today.

Kaua'i Civil Defense is holding the exercise to provide the opportunity for airport officials and first responders to review, practice and evaluate the airport's emergency plan and emergency services.

During the exercise, the Hawaiian Airlines baggage claim area (B) will be closed, including the bus parking and adjacent sidewalks. The entire north end of the terminal, including the passenger-departure holding areas, will be closed as well.

Arriving Hawaiian Airlines passengers will temporarily utilize the Aloha Airlines (south) side of the terminal.

Additionally, the center and far right lanes of the roadway fronting the airport terminal will be closed during the drill. Only the far left lane will be open.
